Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020 Estefania Soto Torres looks stunning in flowy green gown by Ecliptica Atelier during the 69th Miss Universe preliminary competition held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida on May 14, 2021.
She wrote on Instagram the story behind the gown, "This gown is inspired on the green mountain landscapes of Puerto Rico. π΅π·Green is also considered the color of creativity. To me the shades of green of this dress represent the global creative inspiration we have all needed to thrive amidst the rough limitations posed by the global pandemic. π This dress is all about stepping into new post-pandemic beginnings with a firm step and complete freedom of movement guided by our lessons learned."
This was revealed by the Top 10 finalist in her recent interview.
"What about the rumor that something happened to your green dress from Ecliptica that appear cut with scissors? This has been a drama and a scandal," Estefania was asked by the female host.
"Well, I have to tell you that's not a rumor," her short and direct response to the interviewer.
"But you have to know that this is something that I noticed just before the official (final) rehearsal that we need to dress and everything. When I opened the bag of the dress, I found one of the pieces in the shoulders is broken in half."
"This was just before the preliminary. So you can imagine the rush. I just stay with both pieces like this and said 'Ok I have another dress. Thank God'. The Miss Universe Organization had an excellent team there that help me fix it. And as you saw, I got out there with the dress as nothing happened," she added.
Torres wore Harry Robles during the final show as one of the Top 10 finalists.
In a separate interview, Miss Universe Bolivia 2020 Lenka Nemer revealed that she had seen other Miss Universe contestants destroying dresses.
