Rest assured that through our slogan “Cheer All Women” we are still committed on pursuing our goal of supporting all women, and continuing with the legacy of this beauty pageant, which is to promote “friendship and goodwill with other countries in the world” and the “realization of world peace through international exchange”.

We sincerely hope for your continued support and cooperation.

Who is Heaven PeƱaflorida? Nine facts about Mrs. Universe Philippines Makati City

Representing Makati City, Heaven PeƱaflorida is one of the contestants of the inaugural Mrs. Universe Philippines pageant. She is 33 years old, a single mom of two children and a businesswoman. It seems that she has the best of everything but before achieving her comfortable life, she met challenges along the way and came out very strong and empowered woman as she is now.

Mrs. Universe Philippines 2021 coronation night is tentatively set on September 10, 2021 at Okada Manila. Three main titles will be given namely Mrs. Universe Philippines, Mrs. Pacific Continental and Mrs. North Pacific Asia. The winners will represent the country in Mrs. Universe 2021 pageant in South Korea.

The Mass Communication graduate of Adamson University has been very busy preparing for the upcoming pre-pageant activities despite the implemented strict lockdown in Metro Manila. She is trying to maintain her figure by monitoring her food intake and regular exercise. She has regular facials to maintain her youthful glow. She has also been training her pasarela and Q&A skills with her mentors.

Heaven PeƱaflorida answers questions from the media during the press conference.

Heaven met some of the pageant bloggers in a press conference held Saturday, August 28 at Salugan Resort in DasmariƱas Cavite.

Here are nine facts you kneed to know about the beauty queen mom.

1. Her original name is Leni

She was called 'Heaven' by her classmates during her fifth grade. She loved that name and since then she used it as a screen name when she was modelling. It became her nickname that she decided to legally changed her real name from Leni.

"My friends would teased me. My mother got my name from Leni Santos, a former celebrity and my mom's idol," she shared to the press.

2. She was legally adopted

She grew up in San Pedro, Laguna. Her adoptive father died after she graduated high school. Meanwhile, her adoptive mother passed away recently. Despite of that, they took care of her as her own daughter.

She was adopted when she was just a baby. Her biological mom is Filipina and her biological father is Japanese.

3. A newbie in pageantry

Standing 5'6", this is her first time joining a pageant. Her first job was as an extra on TV and part time model.

"I never joined any pageant before because I was so busy struggling with our own lives as a breadwinner of the family. I had no chance to do the things I would love. This is the right time for me to do the right things like pageant."

4. Aims to inspire women

Heaven is indeed an inspiration. As a family breadwinner, she started working at the age of 16. Her first formal job was as a call center agent at the age of 17. At 19, she became a flight attendant. She also worked as a tour guide, real estate broker, manager, executive assistant. At age 30, she owns a boutique shop in Makati City called Affniqchic.

"Mrs. Universe Philippines advocacy is really about empowering women and then influence the children of tomorrow, so it's very aligned with my advocacy since what I'm really doing right now is trying to inspire women specially those who had been through tough times. That despite of all the challenges, you just have to face them. You just have to be strong enough so you can be an inspiration to others."

5. Dream to become a beauty queen

It was her childhood dream to become a beauty queen. She was not able to fulfill this during her younger days since she was busy supporting her family as a breadwinner. And now that she has the means and time, she is not letting this dream go to waste.

"I think most of women they dreamed of being a beauty queen, right? It's my first time joining a pageant and I want to inspire others. I've been through time times wherein no one listened, no one cared and no one dared to help me out. I wanted to be someone who would be there listen to someone like me who has been through tough times but you know I was able to survive."

She added, "Now I have the means to join. Let's be honest. Pageant is you have to spend some money also - for your entourage, gowns. Before I don't really have the means.

6. Simple life growing up

She was not born and raised to a rich family. Thus, she had to struggle to survive. She remembered eating makopa fruit as daily food for their family.

She recalled, "I have to support my own studies. I have to think where would I get the money to pay for our house rentals. I even had the experience of just eating makopa for our daily food. I've been through tough times. Despite all the challenges, I came out very strong and empowered woman".

7. Chill and cool mom

She is a mother of two adorable sons aged 11 and 9 years old. She described herself as a chill and cool mom.

"I don't really try to stop them. I just have to support them on what they want to do. I think I copied it from my mom because my mom is very supportive on what I want to do. She's just there for me. So I'm gonna do that to my kid also. I'll be the same way."

Asked on what is the best thing about motherhood. She answered, "it's about caring and loving."

"Since I only had my mom with me, it's the best thing that I can give inspiration and love to my two kids," she added.

She is not married to the father of her children but she maintains her good relationship with him. She is now in a relationship.

8. Certified fur-parent

She is a pet owner of two Pomeranian dogs which she treats as her own kids named COVID and 19. She got them during the pandemic.

9. Received cash from a stranger in a bus

Strangely, she received Php5,000 from a complete stranger in a bus while traveling from Makati to San Pedro Laguna.

"When I was 17 years old and that time I have no permanent job. I just talked to him. We're just beside together in a bus. I told him my situation that we're not eating anymore, I don't have money to pursue my studies, we don't have electricity for the past eight months. You know he pitied me and he helped me despite of us being strangers. What he told me was, 'I have a daughter and I don't want my daughter to feel the same way'. He told me to pay it forward."

Unfortunately she forgot the name of the good samaritan and hopes to meet him someday.

She used that money to get her requirements to work as a call center agent.

"If I see him again, I'll be super thankful and I will tell him I will pay it forward the way you did it to me. So right now since I'm more capable, I'm trying to help more people in small ways that I can," she said.

Entrepreneur and restaurateur vies for Mrs. Philippines 2021 pageant

The Province of Rizal is represented by an exceptional and empowered Filipina who is set to participate in the upcoming Mrs. Universe Philippines 2021 pageant.

Michelle Lucas or Mich as called by her closest friends is a 43-year old mom to her three children.

Being a single mom is not a hindrance in achieving success in life.

She is an entrepreneur, chef, restaurateur and an interior designer. She is also a business coach to micro and small enterprises.

She is the Secretary of Employers Confederation of the Philippines (Calabarzon Chapter), President of ECOP Rizal and a mentor in Go Negosyo.

The businesswoman advocates in empowering the Filipino youth and women through entrepreneurship.

She is supporting four charity institutions - Cribs, Kanlungan ni Maria, Local Council of Women and Children's Homes.

"Since I was a child, I've always wanted to help other people probably because I did not grow up being rich. I did not came from a rich family but I was able to learn a lot of things from the rich side of my family. It was more about working together and doing things not for yourself but for other people," Michelle told the media on why she chose those charities during the virtual press conference held Monday, August 23.

Virtual press conference of Mrs. Rizal Michelle Lucas

"Women are very close to my heart because I am a woman. I know how was it like and the struggles are specially being a mom. And then children, I know for a fact that without these children our future may not be dying to hold. I wanna be of help to these children specially those who are developing. If their parents are not capable of supporting them, we are doing what we can to give them developmental training as well," she added.

It was her dream to have a foundation when she reaches 40 years old.

"I've written that in my life plans and I said, this is the last thing I need to establish in my life. I need a foundation for abused women and abandon children. I reached 43 and then I was not able to have that opportunity to establish my own and then when I saw the pageant, I found out that the advocacy of the pageant is more about women and children by inspiring them and empowering them. I don't need to set-up my own pageant. I can just work with this organization and be part of the group that is already doing the things that I like to do," Michelle told the press on why she joined the pageant for married women.

Cagayan Province bet withdraws from Miss Universe Philippines 2021 after testing positive for COVID-19

Gianne Krysse Tecson Asuncion of Cagayan Province will no longer compete in the ongoing Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant.

The formal announcement was posted Monday night, August 23, on the Facebook page of Miss Universe PH Cagayan Province.

"We regret to inform our supporters that Miss Cagayan Province 2021 will no longer participate in the 2nd edition of Miss Universe Philippines," the post wrote.

"The MUPh Organization has decided to no longer allow our delegate, Miss Gi Asuncion, to continue owing to her hospitalization due to COVID-19. This heartbreaking decision was reached by them considering the stress the pageant activities would take a huge toll on Miss Asuncion’s health which could impede her faster recovery."

"We, Team Cagayan, agree with this decision as we also put premium on the health and well being of our delegate above anything else."

"To Miss Asuncion, we thank you hugely for ably representing us in the national stage and for bringing to the fore the admirable qualities of a modern Cagayana."

"You will always be our Miss Cagayan Province 2021."

"And to the talents, creatives, and supporters who supported Miss Asuncion’s journey, no words can express our appreciation."

"We will come back stronger next year."

Asuncion made it to Top 50 and announced the good news yesterday on her Instagram account.

She also shared on the same post that she tested positive for COVID-19.

"Hello top 50!šŸ™. I went silent for days. With the discovery of being COVID positive with pneumonia, I didn’t know how to react. I didn’t know what’s the next that could happen," she wrote.

"But you see, this fear of the unknown can’t stop me. It might be hard, but all I know is I will heal. I will get better. Tuloy ang laban."

Money contest edition?

"We’ve seen them showcase their pasarela skills and beauty from the Runway and Casting Video challenges. The Top 50 selection was based on the fan votes along with MUPh Organization judges," saad ng MUPH Organization.

"For the next part of the competition, we’ll put their wits and spontaneity to the test! And this time, the verdict will be coming from a panel of experts," dagdag nila.

I know its a competition pero kawawa yung candidates na mababa ang followers," sulat ng isang fan.

"Boto Mo Ipatrol Mooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"2021 MONEY CONTEST EDITION šŸ™„ Parang Little King and Queen lang ng mga Daycare students na may pa envelope pa tapos palakihan ng Pera at may 50% cut for school. Hahaha! MUP šŸ¤®šŸ¤®šŸ¤®"

"Hello!!! What are we trying to prove here? This is not about beauty and brains, it’s all about beauty and money. Thus, those candidates who are not well known and nd kwartahan ang kawawa! We should based it on how they will perform on stage, coz internationally she needs to prove herself, not how rich and famous she is! I’m frustrated with this pageant!"

"Stop the voting system. Screen them based on their personality, talent, stage presence and advocacy."

Just my opinion. šŸ˜˜"

Samantala may ibang commenters naman na naiintidihan ang desisyon ng organisasyon.

"Wag puro bash kc bumoto sa gsto nyong kandidata di yung lakas pumutak wla nmang ambag sa gsto nya edi ligwak laban."

"On my opinion ha.a lam namn na talga natin from the start palang na business is business na talga ang mup so bat parang gulat na gulat pa kayo? I mean end of the world naba Kung makuha Ng may mga malaking fan base yung slots sa voting line? Dba di namn and ano namn ngayon Kung makuha nila may MASAMA ba as long as nag effort din namn sila as candidates and pangarap din nila yun oyyy may magagawa ba tayo?  the org and that is Wala silang pakeeee and that's it pero dko namn nilalahat ha yun lang god bless."

"Positive lang tayo guys, possible siguro na gagamitin nila ang malilikom na pundo for any Miss Universe projects hopefully and sana if kaninong lugar ang mananalo na ni rerepresent ng kandidata ay doon e prioritize ang projects nila for community services."

"Puro kayo reklamo sa pa Voting pero kung maka demand kayo sa organization to give you EXTRAVAGANT and SPECTACULAR Show wagas. Ano akala nya sa MUP Org MALASAKIT CENTER or PCSO? PCSO nga need magbenta for raffle para magka pondo, tapos itong ultimong PATIMPALAK na magluluklok ng candidate to represent our country (para YURAKAN at SIRAIN nyo na naman pagkatao sa criticisms nyo) PAGDADAMUTAN nyo pa? They pay for the FRANCHISE so they have to earn too to survive and provide you quality show and even extend charitable works. Kung ayaw nyo bumoto, eh di wag! Walang pipilit sa inyo. If you don’t like certain girl kasi malakas sa pa vote, eh di mag VOLT-IN kayong mga nega at iboto ang gusto nyo. Yun nga lang, it will come with a cost. NANGINGIALAM KAYO SA TRABAHO NG ORGANIZATION eh ang ambag nyo lang naman ka negahan. Umasta kayo parang mas QUALIFIED pa kayo sa nasa pwesto. Sit down and relax. Bawas bawasan ang sobrang pag tambay sa mga pa blind item at pa tsaa ng mga ENABLERS OF TOXICITY pages. ✌️"

"Businesses is business mga muntanga mga ibang nasa comments section! Kahit ang MUP kagaya ng ibang pageant like MGI business!!! Pandemya ngayon db need nila mapagkuhanan ng pondo. Tsaka edi wag kang bumoto kung ayaw mo. Ay baka wala ka naman palang perang pamboto kaya puro ngawa! Shataaaap nalang!"

A famous TikTok creator and now Miss Universe Philippines 2021 candidate Ayn Bernos has react to a basher saying she has mental health problem.

On her IG stories, Bernos shared screenshots of some pageant fans bashing her participation in Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant.

One comment caught her attention that wrote: "Tingin ko talaga may mental health problem ang ganito..."

"Someone commented that I must have a mental health problem for even thinking I stand a chance against taller, smarter, and more beautiful women," she wrote on her IG story.

She clarified on why she joined the pageant.

"I did not join Miss Universe Philippines because I believed I was the beauty standard."

"I joined it because I know I'm not, and it's about time girls like me are allowed to try, too."

Starting this year, Miss Universe Philippines Organization has removed its no minimum height requirement.

She added, "every time I start doubting myself, I always go back to my purpose: I needed someone like me on stage when I was younger. I did not feel represented. So now that I can do it for the next generation - why wait?"

Katrina Dimaranan appeals to pageant fans: "No need to bash candidates"

Miss Universe Philippines 2021 official candidate Katrina Dimaranan has appealed to pageant fans to stop bashing and be kind to her fellow candidates.

In her lengthy post via IG story on Saturday, August 14, she wrote that her fellow candidates don't deserve to be hated and bashed.

"I just wanted to clarify that all of these women joining Miss Universe Philippines don't deserve to be hated on and bashed on so much. Do we need to remind ourselves that women join beauty pageants for many reasons and we have the confidence to showcase who we are to the world," she wrote.

"I've been used to bashing since my Binibining Pilipinas days and til today [but] I'm fine with it. But let's not forget there are some who may still be so uncomfortable reading negative things about who they are or what they look like. Be kind," she added.

The Love Island USA star also remind fans that if they are supporting a candidate, there is no need to bash others.

"Kung kami mga girls are uplifting each other and supporting each other throughout this journey. Try to remember the hard work we all put in day in and day out. Let's be kind naman."

"With the pandemic and all, we need to have open heart and show compassion. Yun lang po. I hope you don't hate for me this but if you do well sorry not sorry. These women deserve more, we all deserve more. Let's be kinder. This all comes from love."

Dimarana is considered a heavy favorite in this year's Miss Universe Philippines pageant.
